The Truth of Indie Publishing

Hello, I am Mark, your friendly neighbourhood conservative marxist. Yes, you read that right. Conservative marxist. I want you to think about that.

Isn’t conservatism and marxism opposites?

Many Internet champagne socialists who drink champagne and eat caviar, you’d absolutely believe this. But if you’re reading my Webtastic Stories – Magenta vs Yellow President of the Internet debates, I think you’d understand I never listen to people off the Internet. Mock, yes, listen no. It’s like listening for life advice from a cocaine addict!

You see, I think conservatives make the best marxists. Why, well there’s something Marx wanted us to do the most – seize the means of production. Well, you have to produce something once you do. Who is harder working, more conscientious?

That’s right – conservatives.

Oh, liberals, in their hot tubs, drinking champagne and thinking about the plight of the “common man” think about communism, but they would make piss pour ones. Many conservatives, who feel slighted by many of the media entertainment studios are starting to stand up.

Whether it is Iconic Comics, All Caps comics, or 100s of indie authors in Iron Age, or Elf Lair Games, or me working on Tales from Trinity City, we’ve had it up to our ears with the crap the media companies produce. To quote James T. Kirk, Let them die!

I see a dinosaur that is sinking in a tar pit, only capable of producing remakes, adaptations, reboots. That includes the Barbie movie. Sorry, Barbie already exists, so it proves Hollywood can’t come up with new ideas…

Every indie creative is a cut, and as 100s and even 1000s come out from amongst this dying dinosaur, it dies a little. Eventually, this will change the media landscape. 1000s of creatives, all niching down on their content for their particular community.

People who like sexy heroines and stalwart heroes will find their home, people who like LGBT heroes will find a different home, people who like Conan like sword and sorcery will have another home, as will people who like epic fantasy like Lord of the Rings, and then the sci-fiers who love Star Wars, Star Trek and other epic stories!

If you want a great comic, game, or book experience, you can look for them in creatives works in your own community. After all, write the book you want to see in the world. Same goes with games and comics – and eventually TV shows and movies. Niching down on your content so your readers will find you is vital to marketing!

The old must die, the publishing and media companies must become extinct for the betterment of humanity. And the good news is every indie writer and creative is a cut against it. You have a choice!

So, time to make it happen – let’s seize the means of production and create new media!
